Helping Neighbors in Need During This Time of Crisis

The Clear Lake Food Pantry is a growing partnership between area churches, businesses, and volunteers serving our area for more than 20 years. The Pantry is open Mondays & Thursdays 8AM-11AM and is on the Clear Lake Baptist Church campus (15700 Space center Blvd. Houston TX 77062).

If you are in need of food assistance and have questions please call 281-702-0203.

If you can help with donations or by volunteering,  please read below...

The Clear Lake Food Pantry needs our help!

The Clear Lake Food Pantry, housed at Clear Lake Baptist Church, is a lifeline for many people, serving 300 families each week. As you can imagine, the number of those needing food is increasing exponentially as a result of our current economic crisis.

How can you help?

  • Purchase food and drop off at designated times
  • Volunteer to help receive donations onsite
  • Volunteer to help on distribution days

Please read the detailed instructions below, which are designed to keep everyone safe and to make the process as efficient as possible.

A note related to self-isolation and the food pantry:  The food pantry is considered an essential business, just like a grocery store. Volunteers who drop off or distribute food at the food pantry are contributing to an essential service while engaged in those specific activities. There are opportunities here for volunteers to serve at their comfort level.

We are not encouraging you to do anything that would represent an uncomfortable level of risk for you or your family or that would go against what our local governmental guidelines allow. As always, please make prudent choices for your family.

Food purchase and drop off (instructions)

If you choose to purchase food and if you feel comfortable with this option, you can buy food and drop it off at the food pantry Sundays and Wednesdays from 3-4 pm.

Note: Ideally, purchases should be made at the same time as your minimal trips to the grocery store. Alternatively, you may choose to shop online at a grocery store and pick up at the curb to minimize your contact with others in the store.

Food Donations Needed:
  • Canned Food, nonperishable food, hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese, canned green beans, canned peas, canned vegetables, canned soup, nuts, rice, pasta, etc.
  • Meats, poultry, and fish, hamburger meat, pork chops, chicken, etc.
  • Crackers, cereal, cookies, trail mix, granola, peanut butter, etc.

Do not Need: Milk, eggs, or loaves of bread

Other Supplies Needed:

Surgical Gloves/cleaning gloves, surgical mask, work mask—PPE

If you choose to pre-assemble bags (it is a big help to the volunteers and an awesome activity for your kids), please use a paper bag and fill using the following lists as purchase guidelines. Store brands are allowed, and substitutes can be made, but this is their basic structure.

If you have kids you want to include in this activity, ask for paper sacks from the grocery stores. Have the kids decorate the sacks with Bible verses, drawings, paint, stickers, etc.

Bag for a family of 4: peanut butter, crackers, 2 cans of vegetables, 2 cans of fruit, a bag of dry beans, a bag of rice, a box of hamburger helper, a can of sloppy joe mix, a box of cereal, a small bag of tortillas, a can of black, white, or kidney beans

Bag for a single homeless person: peanut butter, crackers, cans/cups of fruit with pop tops, any food with pop top lids that can be cooked with just hot water, a box of pop tarts, a package of Ramen noodles, cans of meat (chicken/tuna) with pop tops, a box of cereal.

When you have gathered the food, drive by and pop your trunk between 3-4 pm on Sunday or Wednesday – a volunteer will remove the items without any interaction or contact (maybe a smile or a hand-wave).
